Gio Ponti

Gio Ponti, always passionate about nautical furniture, had direct experience with this theme by designing or refurbishing furnishings for four ocean liners and two cruise ships between 1949 and 1951: Conte Grande, Africa, Oceania, Conte Biancamano, Andrea Doria, and Giulio Cesare. For these ships, Ponti designed a small armchair with slight variations to fit the maritime environments.

Description

The D.151.4 armchair, designed by Gio Ponti in 1951, features a structure in solid canaletto walnut, offering elegance and strength. The seat is built with elastic straps and padded with polyurethane cut to different thicknesses, ensuring lasting comfort. The enveloping backrest is made with metal framing and polyurethane padding injected into molds, complemented by brass tips and non-slip plastic feet. The product is fully removable, available in fabric or leather. The armchair has dimensions of 75 cm in width, 70 cm in depth, and 74 cm in height, with feet height of 41 cm.
