Tortello is an armchair with a monolithic design that captures attention with its generous, soft, and enveloping shapes. As the name suggests, the design of Tortello is bold and impactful. The armchair consists of several surprising elements.The supporting base, made from recycled polyethylene through rotational molding, has a tray-like shape with a trapezoidal base. On top of this, there is an elastomer cushion, with a foam upper part that forms a soft, enveloping volume, upholstered in fabric with a distinctive "pinched" stitch. Tortello also stands out for its sustainable craftsmanship, using advanced construction technologies and innovative materials. The philosophy of circularity and recycling is at the core of this project, from the second-life polyethylene structure to the components in expanded polyurethane and thermoplastic elastomers that define both geometry and comfort. Despite the minimal amount of polyurethane used, the armchair offers unique softness thanks to targeted construction choices. Additionally, the design without the use of adhesives or glues makes Tortello completely disassemblable and easily recyclable.
